Join Us for the First Meeting of Voices of Domestic Abuse: The Mica’s Law Florida Project
Domestic abuse is not just a personal struggle—it’s a systemic issue that demands action. Survivors deserve more than survival. They deserve justice, protection, and a voice in shaping the very laws that impact their lives.
That’s why we are launching Voices of Domestic Abuse: The Mica’s Law Florida Project, a movement dedicated to amplifying survivor voices, reforming laws that fail to protect victims, and providing tangible pathways to healing and support. Our mission is clear:
✅ Raise Awareness – Break the silence through survivor-led storytelling and advocacy.
✅ Push for Legal Reform – Change policies and laws to protect victims and hold abusers accountable.
✅ Support Survivors with Education – Connect victims with resources for safety, healing, and justice.
What This Meeting is About
This first gathering is the beginning of a movement. We will:
🔹 Discuss Florida’s current domestic abuse laws, to include stalking and harrassment—where they fall short and what needs to change.
🔹 Outline our legislative goals, starting with coercive control principle's from the proposed SC Mica’s Law
🔹 Share survivor stories to highlight the urgent need for systemic change.
🔹 Create a roadmap for action—whether through advocacy, education, or direct policy engagement.
This meeting is for survivors, advocates, legal experts, and anyone who wants to be part of meaningful change. Whether you’ve experienced domestic abuse, know someone who has, or simply believe in justice, your voice and expertise is needed.
Why It Matters
For too long, survivors have been silenced, retraumatized by legal systems that should protect them. This is the first step toward rewriting that reality—ensuring that survivors are not just heard but protected under the law.
Legislation alone won’t fix everything, but it will save lives. It will prevent further harm. And it will send a clear message that survivors deserve better.
Be Part of the Change
We cannot do this alone. Change happens when voices unite, when stories are told, and when people stand together to demand better.
